Our farm holiday is located in a beautiful and sunny Region, between two seas, the Jonian Sea and Tirrenian Sea. It is in a strategic position for excursions in the nearby mountains.
Our Region will offer you a beautiful nature, local culture and nice weather.
This Region has two towns: Potenza and Matera. Potenza, the biggest Regional town, has 67.000 inhabitants. It is over 819 metres above the sea level. Around the Mediaval town it extends the new and modern zone.
Matera,
at 25-30 minutes' car from our farm, is the second Regional town for the number of inhabitants, 53.000. It's one of the most beautiful and picturesque Italian town. The film director Mel Gipson shooted a film about Christ's passion on this spot entitled The Passion. Another director is now filming a new movie (about Jesus' Mother, Mary).
Matera is divided into two parts: the modern one is situated on a calcareous hill, and the old one on a ravine brink, on a precipice near a mountainous torrent, called il torrente Gravina di Matera. Old houses are built in thousands natural caves, excavated in calcareous tuff. All these buildings, called Matera's Sassi, offer you a pleasant view.
There is a big lake, called diga di S. Giuliano, near Matera in contact with nature, offering you relax and peace.
Mountains occupy a vast area of the Basilicata Region. There are also five rivers, located like the fingers in a hand, which flow into the Jonian sea. The biggest Regional plain is near Metaponto. There are many other little town: Bernalda, Pisticci, Ferrandina, Policoro. The Pollino National Park is not far from our farm.
You can spend your free time in an American Bar, rich in entertainment like bowling, pools, videogames, Latin-American dance and music; you can also go to the cinema, the water fun fair, the opera or listen to live music when musical events are held.
